Puerto del Carmen is an important commercial area with important beaches. It is also close to the village of Tías, which is more typical and full of shops, supermarkets, grill restaurants and bars..

The most important monuments of the village are: The church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria with its cemetary, and the church of San Antonio. The church of la Candelaria was built in April of 1796 and in 1799 the cemetry followed. This is the oldest cemetary in the island. The church of San Antonio was built in 1959 and is now an art centre with numerous art expositions.

The most important celebration in the village of Tías is la Candelaria which takes place on the 2nd of February. The day before an important celebration takes place in the main square of the church la Candelaria where you can enjoy the traditional fried pork and several activities. Other celebration are: San Pedro in June, el Rancho de Pascua & La Santa (Santa Lucía): celebrations orginating from the 17th century that takes place from the end of November to the end of December.
